Celebration 2000 Photograph Collection, 1890-2000 | Sealaska Heritage Institute Archives

Scope and Contents: This collection contains copies of photographs gathered by SHI employee researchers for publication in SHI’s Celebration 2000 book. Most of the original images in this collection are held by the Alaska State Library and University of Pennsylvania Museum. These photographs capture historic views of Southeast Alaska Natives during the 1890s-1920s period, as well as modern pictures of prominent individuals and Native art pieces. The pictures included in this collection were not all used in Celebration 2000. Importantly, SHI cannot reproduce the images in this collection without the consent of the repository that holds the original.
