This two-box collection consists of hundreds of images in negative and print format, one historic photograph dating to the 1920s, and two portable hard-drives with images from Celebration 2008 and 2010, and other photography projects undertaking by photography Brian Wallace.
Box 1 of this collection contains negatives and black and white photographs taken by Wallace during the 1980s and in 1994. These images consist primarily of photographs of Alaska Native Brotherhood (ANB) and Alaska Native Sisterhood (ANS) leaders and gatherings during the 1980s. This box also contains a negative photograph of the founding fathers of the Alaska Native Brotherhood, image circa 1912, taken at Sitka, by Winter & Pond. Also found in Box 1 are images of Cecilia Kunz in regalia, and images of the Git-Hoan and Xudzidaa Kwáan dance troupes and the Native Market from SHI sponsored Native American Heritage Month 2010. Finally, Box 1 houses two portable hard-drives that contain a few thousand images taken by Brian Wallace at SHI’s Celebration 2008 and 2010 via a contract arrangement. The images are only in digital format. These images capture the whole of Celebration 2008 and 2010, from parades, dancing, events, to the Artists’ Market and the Juried Art Show. Additional folders contain contract-for-hire photography, such as Wallace’s photography of Celebration events, lectures, and individuals.
Box 2 contains the final item in the collection which is a single historic oversized photograph of the founding fathers of the Alaska Native Brotherhood, image circa 1912, taken at Sitka, by Winter & Pond. This photograph was retained by the Wallace family for a few generations before its donation. People in picture are identified on the matte in handwritten pen.

The photographs in this collection were donated or obtained via a contract-for-hire situation from photographer Brian Wallace.
Specifically, Box 1, Item 12 of collection was donated to SHI on July 26, 2008 by Brian Wallace. Box 1, Item 12, the Celebration 2008 digital images on the detachable hard-drive were given to SHI in July 2008 in agreement with the contract-for-hire between SHI and Wallace, and detachable hard-drive with photos was transferred to Special Collections by Kathy Dye on Nov. 15, 2008. Note: joint copyright exists between SHI and Wallace via the contract-for-hire. Box 1, Item 13, the Celebration 2010 digital images on the detachable hard-drive were given to SHI in June 2010 in agreement with the contract-for-hire between SHI and Wallace dated April 10, 2010. On April 1, 2009 Brian Wallace donated the images comprising Box 1, Fds 1-4, and on March 10, 2010 Wallace also donated the images comprising Box 1, Fds 5-6. Box 1, Fds 7-9, 11 negatives, photographs and CDs were donated by Wallace in June 2011. Box 1, Fd 10 (CD), the Celebration 2010 digital images of the exhibits entered in the 2010 Juried Art Show and Competition were given to SHI June 20110 in agreement with the contract-for-hire between SHI and Wallace dated May 2, 2010. Photographs in Fds 11-18 were also contract-for-hire between SHI and Wallace between 2011-2012; materials in Fds 19, 21-22 were donated on Jan. 3, 2013; materials in Fd 20 were generated by SHI and Wallace via a contract for hire in fall 2012; materials in Fds 21-22 were donated by Wallace on 1/4/2013; materials in Fd 23 were received by SHI from Wallace via a contract for hire in Feb. 2013;
Of importance, Brian Wallace donated these images in memory of his parents, Amos Louis Wallace (1921-2004) and Dorothy Wallace (1916-2005).
