Scope and Contents: This collection consists of transcribed oral histories about the K-12 school experiences of Tlingit Indians Harold and Florence Donnelly of Southeast Alaska. Both of the Donnelly’s attending Indian boarding schools in the Haines and Sitka during the 1910s and 1920s. These transcriptions speak about their experiences undergoing schooling during this period of history, their childhood, and their feelings looking back. Sources indicate these oral histories were conducted in the 1970s to educate youth about the schooling experiences of older generations of Alaskans. No audio recording of the original interview is included with this collection.
