Scope and Contents: This collection consists of audio/visual recordings produced by Cy Peck, Jr. Mr. Peck is a well-known radio personality on Juneau, Alaska’s public radio station, KTOO-FM. His programs, “Cy Peck’s ‘The Chiefs’ radio show” and “The Greatest Jazz Show on Earth” have showcased local, state and national issues, events and personalities of interest to the contemporary public. The subjects covered in this collection are: The 100th anniversary of the destruction of Angoon, Alaska by the United States military; the 67th Alaska Native Brotherhood (ANB) and Alaska Native Sisterhood (ANS) Grand Camp in 1979; and an interview with legendary jazz guitarist, Les Paul.
Note to researchers: the DVD recording of the 67th ANB/ANS Grand Camp includes remarks by ANS member, Mildred Sparks, concerning the successful passage of an ANS sponsored resolution allowing Native Alaskan dancing to be performed at Grand Camp. Dancing had not been allowed at Grand Camp since the inception of ANB/ANS in 1912.
