Scope and Contents: This one-box collection contains of photocopies of George T. Emmons’ unpublished manuscripts on the Tlingit Indians, undated. The originals of this manuscript are held by the American Museum of Natural History, New York. This photocopy has been produced, bound, and placed in order of creation by Emmons. It should be noted that the final bound volume in the collection contains copies of typed fieldnotes of anthropologist Ronald L. Olson, who worked among the Tlingit in the 1920s. These included fieldnotes and/or ethnographic information obtained or written by Tlingit Don Cameron and Robert Blake.
Note: It appears that Frederica de Laguna did not use this version of Emmons’ writing in her co-authored work The Tlingit Indians. See George T. Emmons and Frederica de Laguna, The Tlingit Indians (New York City: American Museum of Natural History, 1991).
Note: The contents of this collection cannot be copied or reproduced by SHI without the permission of the American Museum of Natural History, New York.
